While hiking and photographing near Vancouver Airport at Iona Beach Regional Park, I captured images of a pair of Bald Eagle perching nearby, along with a solitary Coyote walking along the shoreline. Located at the Fraser River estuary, Iona Beach offers expansive tidal flats and grasslands that support abundant wildlife. Bald Eagles patrol the area for fish or guard their territory, while coyotes roam the wetlands—especially at dawn and dusk—searching for small prey or shoreline carrion. Despite its proximity to urban infrastructure and the airport, this coastal habitat reveals a striking coexistence between wilderness and city life, offering powerful moments for wildlife photography.
