Salmon Migration Season 2025 三文鱼洄游季

Each fall, large numbers of salmon swim upstream through the Fraser River and its tributaries, creating a spectacular natural event. For Indigenous peoples of the Vancouver region, the salmon run has long been a vital food source and a foundation of rich fishing traditions. As the salmon spawn and die, gulls and other wildlife gather along the riverbanks to feed on the carcasses, highlighting the raw and essential cycle of the ecosystem.

The Abbotsford International Airshow is one of Canada’s largest aviation events, established in 1962 and held every August at Abbotsford International Airport in British Columbia. The show features both military and civilian aircraft in breathtaking flight demonstrations and static displays, including performances by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, fighter jets, and aerobatic pilots. Celebrating aviation technology and culture, the Abbotsford Airshow has become a signature summer attraction in Western Canada. The first post shows a USSR Mig-17.

The Steller’s Jay (Cyanocitta stelleri), the official bird of British Columbia, is easily recognized by its striking deep blue plumage and bold black crest. Commonly found in forests, parks, and urban areas around Vancouver, it is known for its curious behavior and loud, varied calls. An omnivore, it feeds on nuts, berries, insects, and occasionally human food scraps. As one of the region’s most iconic birds, the Steller’s Jay is both an important part of the local ecosystem and a favorite subject for birdwatchers and photographers.

The Barn Owl (Tyto alba) is a medium-to-large owl with one of the widest global distributions, easily recognized by its heart-shaped facial disc and pale plumage. In North America, it inhabits farmlands, wetlands, and woodland edges, including protected areas such as Terra Nova in Metro Vancouver. Feeding mainly on small mammals, it relies on exceptional hearing to hunt in complete darkness. With its silent flight and nocturnal habits, the Barn Owl plays a vital role as a predator in the ecosystem.

When I was walking around a little lake in the ƛ̓éxətəm Regional Park, an otter suddenly swam close and climbed on a log, I was lucky enough to capture the moment in the daytime.

我在ƛ̓éxətəm Regional Park一个小湖边闲逛时，突然一只水獭游过来，还爬上了一跟原木，白天能拍到这种画面十分幸运。
