Birds in Vancouver(Northern Harrier)-Vol.13 温哥华鸟类 (北方鹞)

A male northern harrier was found hunting in a farmland near Tsawwassen and Delta. Northern harriers glide low most of the time and observe from a distance. After landing, they forage for food on foot and hunt by listening, which is different from most birds of prey. The number of males is far less than that of females and young birds, so there are fewer opportunities for visual identification.

在Delta靠近Tsawwassen 附近的农田中，发现一只正在捕食的雄性北方鹞。北方鹞大多数时间滑翔低飞，远距离观察，落地后靠步行觅食、耳听捕猎，与多数猛禽不同。雄性数量远少于雌性与幼鸟，视觉辨识机会较少。
