Birds in Vancouver(Turkey Vulture)-Vol.19温哥华鸟类 (火鸡秃鹫)

The Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura) is a large raptor widely distributed across the Americas. Recognized by its red featherless head and dark brown plumage, its appearance resembles a turkey, hence the name. Turkey Vultures feed primarily on carrion, I met this one in West Vancouver, but no sign of dead animal near by.

美洲火鸡秃鹫（Turkey Vulture，学名 Cathartes aura）是一种分布广泛的大型猛禽，常见于美洲大部分地区。它以红色裸头和黑褐色羽毛而闻名，外形类似火鸡而得名。火鸡秃鹫主要以腐肉为食，我在西温哥华偶遇这只，周围并没有动物尸体。
