Birds in Vancouver(Juvenile Little Blue Heron at Como Lake)-Vol.25 温哥华鸟类 (科莫湖罕见来访的幼年小蓝鹭)

In early November 2025, a juvenile Little Blue Heron (Egretta caerulea) was spotted at Como Lake in Metro Vancouver—an exceptionally rare sighting, regarded as a once-in-a-decade occurrence in this region. Normally native to the southern United States and Central America, this species rarely ventures as far north as British Columbia. The juvenile’s pure white plumage, distinct from the slate-blue coloration of adults, often leads to confusion with egrets.
