Black Sand Beach(2024)

The Black Sand Beach, known in Icelandic as Reynisfjara, lies near the southern village of Vík í Mýrdal and is one of Iceland’s most iconic natural landmarks. Its jet-black sands were formed from volcanic basalt, creating a dramatic contrast against the roaring Atlantic waves and moody skies. Rising from the shore are the striking basalt sea stacks known as Reynisdrangar, said in legend to be trolls turned to stone by the morning sun. Though breathtakingly beautiful, the beach is also notorious for its powerful “sneaker waves,” which make caution essential for visitors. With its raw beauty and haunting atmosphere, Reynisfjara stands as a symbol of Iceland’s wild and untamed landscape.
