Puffins in Vik (2024) 冰岛海鹦

Near the southern Icelandic village of Vík, steep coastal cliffs become home each summer to thousands of Atlantic Puffins (Fratercula arctica) during their breeding season. Recognizable by their black-and-white plumage, bright orange bills, and endearing appearance, puffins are among Iceland’s most beloved symbols of wildlife. From May to August, they nest in burrows along the cliffs, feeding their chicks with small fish before returning to the open sea by late summer. The puffin colonies here embody the vibrant yet fleeting pulse of Iceland’s coastal life during the brief Arctic summer.
