American Crocodile in Río Lagartos 拉加托斯湖的美洲鳄

The American Crocodile (Crocodylus acutus) is one of the most widespread crocodilian species in the Americas, inhabiting estuaries, coastal lagoons, and mangrove wetlands from Mexico through Central America and the Caribbean. The brackish waterways of Río Lagartos provide ideal habitat for both adult and juvenile crocodiles. Adults can exceed 5 metres in length and serve as apex predators within the wetland ecosystem, while juveniles, distinguished by their more pronounced dark banding, feed primarily on insects, small fish, and amphibians.

美洲鳄（American Crocodile，学名 Crocodylus acutus）是美洲分布最广的鳄鱼之一，栖息于中美洲、加勒比海及墨西哥沿海的河口、潟湖和红树林湿地。里奥拉加托斯（Río Lagartos）丰富的咸淡水交汇环境，为成年与幼年美洲鳄提供了理想的栖息地。成年个体体型庞大，最长可超过5米，是湿地生态系统中的顶级捕食者；幼鳄则体型纤细，身上的深色条纹更为明显，主要以昆虫、小鱼和两栖动物为食。
